Sights both ancient and modern
Tokyo probably does not even appear on the global map of tourist destinations, and perhaps most visitors see only the drab and functional concrete superficiality as they rush on their way to Kyoto. Yet there are plenty of places to see in Tokyo, both old and new. This page is not strictly limited to the city of Tokyo, but encompasses the whole metropolitan area around Tokyo Bay.
Some of the descriptions of Tokyo Tower are out of date, since the completion of "Tokyo Sky Tree", almost twice the height, at 634 metres. (The "Tree" seems to mean "Christmas tree".)
One of the best-known landmarks of modern Tokyo, Rainbow Bridge connects one of the growing number of islands created in Tokyo Bay to the original shoreline.
